Levels of Plays in the SSHL

Bronze Level

Bronze is our lowest level and is for players who are new to hockey, have limited experience, or experienced players who want a slower game. We have players in Bronze who just started, others coming back after a long time away from hockey, and yet others who have lots of experience but are just older and slowing down.

Regardless of experience, we only allow people to play in Bronze if their skill, speed and attitude is a fit. If a player is too good for Bronze, we will assign them to Silver or Gold. The emphasis at the Bronze Level is on having fun, skill development and helping newer players get better. Bronze plays like a lower level Rec League that you might find at other rinks.

Silver Level

Silver is our middle level and is for players who are a bit faster, have more experience and want a slightly higher level game than what Bronze offers. Silver players typically have 3+ years of experience playing hockey, some with significantly more experience, but looking for a game that is a bit slower than the Gold level. The Silver level is still a Rec League and plays like a Rec League or D-League that you might find at other rinks.

Gold Level

Gold is our highest level. Gold is for players who are faster and have further developed skills than Bronze or Silver players. Some have played high school hockey in the past but this league is NOT for high level players (i.e. high-level high school, juniors, college, etc.).

Once again, this league is not for higher level players, “ringers”, or anybody with a “winning is the only thing that matters” attitude. We will not allow players to continue playing in this league if they upset the balance of gameplay or are simply too good for the league. The Gold level plays like a lower level C2 or C3 league that you might find at other rinks.
