Why Choose the SSHL?

Balanced Games

Every player is evaluated and rated so that players, teams, and levels are fair and competitive. No ringers allowed in the SSHL!

Beginner Friendly

Our Bronze level is exclusively for new/newer players only! More skilled players must play in our higher levels, allowing new players to have more fun and develop as hockey players!

A League for Adults

The average age of our players is over 43. The SSHL is designed around adult schedules, adult bodies and adult priorities. Games start between 5pm to 8:30pm, Sundays only.

SSHL Community

A league full of great people who are here to have fun, get some exercise and stay safe. Everyone is required to agree to and abide by the SSHL Code of Conduct, or they will not be allowed to play in the league.

Quick FAQs

Am I too new for the SSHL?

Probably not. You need to be able to skate ok and stop. We recommend at least a little experience playing hockey, in a class or on your own. If you are BRAND NEW to skating/hockey, you can signup for our Learn to Play Hockey class or practice at stick & puck, public skate, etc.

Am I too good for the SSHL?

The SSHL is for beginning players (Bronze Level) up to about C3 (Gold Level). If you are a higher level player who has years of experience you are probably too good for the SSHL. See more detail on the SSHL Levels, or reach out to us with questions.

What if I don't know my level?

All players who play in the SSHL are given a player rating and assigned to a level. If you are a new player, we will have you attend our evaluation skate and/or will reach out to get you rated. The SSHL will assign you to a level and team.

I'm new to the SSHL...how do I join a team?

All players sign up individually and the SSHL will assign you to a level and a team for this season. Every season we will build new teams so you will get to know everyone in the league and to mix things up.

Can I play with a friend?

Yes! You are allowed to pair/play with one friend or family member. Please visit the Resources page on the website for the link to the Google form with rules and instructions.

Do you have payment plans?

Yes. The default payment plan is $150 down, and monthly payments of $100 for three months during the season. If you need to work out a different payment arrangement, please contact us.
